Artificial Grass for Fisher House Hawaii Project
Fisher House Foundation is best known for a network of comfort homes where military and veteran’s families stay while a loved one is receiving treatment. Since inception, the program has saved military and veterans’ families an estimated $235 million in out of pocket costs for lodging and transportation. Fisher House Foundation also operates the Hero Miles program, using donated frequent flyer miles to bring family members to the bedside of injured service members as well as the Hotels for Heroes program using donated hotel points to allow family members to stay at hotels near medical centers without charge. The Foundation also manages a grant program that supports other military charities and scholarship funds for military children, spouses and children of fallen and disabled veterans.
No one would argue that we do not owe a debt to those who have borne the battle on their nation’s behalf. They volunteered (albeit with insufficient information) to be where they are and do what they do. They deserve our support and especially the best treatment we can provide for those among them who will carry the emotional scars of their participation into the rest of their lives. The title given to our men and women fighting overseas is that of soldiers, airmen, sailors and marines. Yet they have other titles, as well: father, husband, brother, sister, uncle and aunt. These uniform services members are just like all of us; they have families who love them
Aloha Contract Services along with Pacific Air Cargo has pledged to support Fisher House Hawaii by donating an artificial grass surface for the playground for keiki of veterans and our military ohana. Our goal is to provide a safe playground for their children and take their minds off the trauma they might be going through, while their families are having treatment.
